PRIDE OF PHOENIX, LAKSHYA 2020

ARIZONA'S BOLLYWOOD FUSION DANCE COMPETITION


Lakshya was the first of its kind dance competition in the valley that convened all the Bollywood dance enthusiasts! Hosted by the director/producer, Mr. Navin Rangarajan and owner, Mrs. Nalini Manickam of ABCD school of dance this extravagant competition attracted a jam-packed audience and had dancers of all age groups, from the tiny tots to grooving adults come together for their love for dance. The event marked the showdown of 100 plus contestants from 43 teams battle in 7 diverse categories, for the sole desire to be crowned the winner.



What is Lakshya


There is an artist in each one of us. And Lakshya strived to bring forth the radiance in each individual by providing them the opportunity to showcase that very talent. Lakshya 2020 in short, was a huge success, but it is not over yet! This is the just the beginning of an era for ABCD and its family of volunteers. The beginning of a legacy to be built for all the aspiring dancers in the community to stand together as one, for nothing else but their passion alone, DANCE!

The Competition


Amidst the pool of exuberant talents showcased on the Lakshya stage, renowned names like ASU Andaaz, Arizona State University’s very own competitive dance team bagged the second place in the senior groupcategory. While team Rangeela, took the glorious first place trophy home, with their colorful and entertaining performance. Audience were left in awe of Harshita, a young teen who set the stage of fire in not one but two categories and earned the very well-deserved first place for both.


These names only suffice as a few drops in the ocean of talent that this stage witnessed. Each of the 7 categories placed a winner and runner up. That is 14 trophies, but immeasurable skills that this platform had the honor of hosting.



Events' success


The competition not only convened versatility in the performances, but also brought together four judges from four different states, adorning multifaceted dance forms to their names. Judges for the competition included Thulasiram from Dallas, known for his unique bolly-hop and urban blend choreographies along with his team, Team Ground Zero (TGZ), Jaikishan from Boston, carrying his Boston Bollywood team pride, Gabrielle Bryana from Phoenix/Las Vegas, a renowned aerial dance artist, with various Cirque du Soleil mentors’ training skills under her belt, and finally Smt. Sulakshana Jayaram, Artistic Director of the Shivoham school of Dance, Denver. Chief guests, Kalashri Asha Gopal and Mr. Venkat Kommineni graced Lakshya 2020 with their presence.
